Biography

Daniel Kuzuhara is a pianist born in Madison, Wisconsin who graduated with a master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, studying under Dr. Karen Shaw. Prior to his studies in Indiana, he studied under Professor Anthony Padilla at Lawrence University, Julie Chang, and Karen Hill. He currently studies under Maestro Sebastiaan Bijlsma (a concert pianist from Netherlands), and Tiziano Rossetti, director of Tiziano Rossetti’s International Music Academy in Lugano, Switzerland.

Throughout his career, Daniel has received over 25 awards and honors at local, national, and international events. Most notably, Daniel won 1st prize at the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, Grand Prize and 1st Place Award at the Rocky Mountain Summer Music Competition, 1st prize in the International Music Competition “Vienna” Grand Prize Virtuoso, two Platinum medal Awards at the 2021 Quebec International Music Competition, Platinum Medal Award in the Global International Music Competition, and Gold Medal Awards at the 2021 and 2022 Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition. Nationally, Daniel won 2nd prize in the national Schubert Club Scholarship Competition in 2013 and locally, he won the Neale-Silva Music Competition held in Madison where he performed on Wisconsin Public Radio at the Memorial Union Theater.

Daniel is an active piano performer giving over 10 concerts per year, including at least one international concert each year. Throughout his career, he has performed numerous concerts for solo piano, chamber music, accompanying, and even twice as soloist with orchestra. His most notable performance venues are the Memorial Union Theater in Madison, Wisconsin, Recital Tribute Community Hall in Toronto, Canada, Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna, Austria, Philharmonie de Paris-Cite de la Musique in Paris, France, the prestigious theater of Tiziano Rossetti International Music Academy in Lugano, Switzerland, and Casa Verdi in Milan, Italy.

Outside of performances, he runs his own music studio in Madison called Appassionato Music Studio, teaching private piano and violin lessons. He teaches students of all experience levels ages 4 through adults and is currently accepting new students.

He looks forward to educating, inspiring, and sharing music with the community for many years to come.
